Drowning remains the leading cause of accidental death in children under 4 years old. To be most effective in water safety, the more layers (barriers) between a child and the water will ensure the greatest chance at safety. Water Safe Swim Modesto lessons are a way to ‘skill the child’ so that when or if a child finds their way to water alone and all other layers have broken down, the child will have the skills to solve the aquatic problem successfully!
WATER SAFE SWIM MODESTO INFO + SKILLS Water Safe Swim Modesto skills are taught in attending a complete session (typically 4 weeks) consisting of one-on-one, DAILY lessons, 10 min or less, 4 days (usually Monday – Thursday) of each week.
FLOAT: 6 mo – 17 mos SWIM/FLOAT: 18 mos and up SWIM/FLOAT/BREATHING: 2-5 years old Infants will learn a water safe back float skill to be able to float in the water until someone can rescue them, should they find themselves in the water unattended.
Toddlers and children ages 18 mo – 5 years old will learn a sequenced combination of a swim with a float or breathing and then return to a swim. Students are trained to swim face down in the water, holding their breath, then roll over to a back float to rest and breathe and then return to a face down swim. Some children 4-5 years old might be taught to pick their head up to breathe instead of rolling over to a back float. This all depends on the ability of the child.
The individuality of what Miss Riley offers through her Water Safe Swim Modesto program is one of the reasons these water safety skills are so effective.
